  • Steven Nutter, AICP

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Steven guides the strategic direction and fundraising work of the organization. An urban planner by profession, gardener by passion, and a certified permaculture designer, he loves to design, build, and grow things to benefit communities of all kinds. He has worked in design, transportation, technology, journalism, and human rights. Originally from West Virginia, he has a Master of Public Policy in planning from Tufts and serves on the Cambridge Climate Committee and the Advisory Board of Cambridge Local First.

  • Sarah Adkins

    DEPUTY DIRECTOR

    Sarah manages the operations of the organization. She’s a Cambridge native with a background in nonprofit work focusing on food accessibility and community support. She is passionate about implementing ways to alleviate hunger using place based programming that sustains both community and environment. She is an advocate for skill sharing, specifically around growing food and is interested in creating edible landscaping in vulnerable communities. She has a BS in Food Studies: Community Food Systems and Gastronomy from Syracuse University,

  • Liana Greenberg-Nielson

    CANOPY CREW PROGRAM MANAGER

    Liana is passionate about green infrastructure and accessible environmental outreach that includes all community members. Originally from Upstate New York, holds a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and an MS in Environmental Science and Policy from Northeastern University.

  • Nick Gray

    CANOPY CREW CO-OP INTERN

    Nick is pursuing a BS in Environmental and Sustainability Sciences at Northeastern. With a passion for long-term climate resiliency, Nick hopes to utilize his specialty in the environmental sciences to advocate, educate, and implement climate strategies and policies on the local, state, and federal level. Nick is a California native who has seen the effects of climate change first-hand and is actively taking steps to create a climate resilient future for generations to come.

  • Julie Croston

    WILDLIFE ARTS CONSULTANT

    Julie founded the Wildlife Arts program and continues to advise the work as well as coordinate and volunteer at events. She is an artist and communications professional, with a demonstrated history of success in strategic communications, writing, social media, fundraising, program development, and coordination.

  • Maya Bickel

    TERRACORPS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

    Maya focuses on the the Alewife District. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Middle East studies, specializing in historic forms of sustainable agriculture in the Levant. Since then Maya has worked as a community organizer in Jerusalem and a researcher for a human rights and urban planning nonprofit. Maya cares about equitable access to and shared stewardship of urban green space.
